POLICE REPORTS

October 9: While an officer was doing business checks in the 400 block of Peace Portal Drive, she observed a male subject acting suspicious, possibly trying to avoid being seen. Officers discovered the individual has a valid unextractable warrant. The subject was released.
October 8: Officers responded to a domestic assault case in the 300 block of Alder Street. Two individuals were investigated for attempted homicide. One female was transported and booked for first degree assault.
October 8: An employee in the 400 block of Martin Street was concerned about a vehicle that had been parked by a closed business for several hours. She stated there were two people in the car. Officers contacted the people who were waiting to meet with their doctor.
October 8: A business owner in the 1900 block of Boblett Street found some graffiti that was done over the weekend. Officers took pictures of it to compare with other pictures to determine who is responsible.
October 8: A customs officer intercepted two 17-year-old missing juveniles at the Peace Arch POE. A Blaine officer contacted the boys’ parents. One of the juveniles was transported to detention for a probation violation. The other boy drove home.
October 8: A customer complained about a clerk who refused to exchange currency, lost his temper, and ordered the customer out of the store in the 200 block of D Street. The customer will contact the owner and file a complaint about the employee.
October 7: Officers were advised by a witness of a tractor trailer that had side swiped a car on I-5. The car was almost forced into a guard rail, and the truck kept going. Officers contacted all parties and stood by until WSP responded.
October 7: A resident reported hearing chirping and observed two men on the second floor balcony of a vacant apartment. The men vanished when police arrived. No evidence of an intrusion was found. Extra patrol was provided.
October 6: Neighbors filed a noise complaint when two men decided to wrestle at 4:30 in the morning in the 1600 block of Runge Street. The men were advised of the complaint and said they were finished making noise.
October 6: A complainant in the 600 block of 8th Street reported someone was extorting money from her son. The officer located the suspects and arrested them for extortion. The case was closed and forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
October 5: Officers responded to a report of subjects breaking into a residence in the 100 block of Birch Court. Upon arrival, officers determined it was a domestic dispute between husband and wife. The matter was settled by the husband spending the night at a friends.
October 5: An officer contacted an intoxicated man who was sleeping on a bench in the 600 block of Peace Portal Drive. It was discovered he had an active felony warrant in Bellingham. The man was arrested and booked into jail.
October 5: A person reported to police that someone had broken into his truck in the 200 block of Marine Drive. They took about $180 worth of stuff. Officers examined the vehicle for fingerprints.
October 5: A person phoned police because a man claimed to be collecting money for the Special Olympics but had no documents. The office contacted the Special Olympics and they had no one in the area. Officers checked the area, but he was gone.
October 4: Officers responded to a residential burglary in the 9900 block of Canada View. Officers discovered a broom was stolen and someone attempted to remove light fixtures. There are no suspects at this time.
October 4: A mother in the 1100 block of Harrison Street notified police that her eight-year-old son was struck in the eye by a 15-year-old boy using a slingshot. The younger child was taken to the hospital. The 15-year-old child was arrested, processed, and released to a parent.
October 4: An officer was contacted by a motel manager in the 300 block of Alder Street who reported a tenant attempted to enter another person’s room the previous night, while it was occupied. The suspect was contacted and attempted to flee. He was arrested on a felony charge.
October 4: A theft of a stereo from a vehicle in the 200 block of Marine Drive was reported to police. An officer is investigating the incident and processing evidence found at the scene.
October 4: An officer took a theft report of items from a vehicle in the 200 block of Marine Drive. The victim reported missing a set of golf clubs and assorted clothing. The case is under investigation.
October 3: Officers responded to a CPR in progress for an elderly man at his residence in the 9800 block of Harvey Road. An officer arrived and assisted the fire department with CPR. Attempts to revive the patient were unsuccessful.
October 3: An officer was advised of a female being harassed by an ex-boyfriend in the 600 block of D Street. The male was threatening to remove their common children from the mother. The male was not on the scene when officers arrived.
October 3: Officers were dispatched to a domestic assault in the 600 block of D Street. Officers arrested an individual for DV assault and booked him into Whatcom County jail. The female refused medical treatment.
October 3: An officer assisted the fire department and U.S. Coast Guard with a man who was in the water for an hour or more after he fell out of his boat. The man was taken to the hospital for observation.
October 3: Officers responded to a care center facility in the 400 block of C Street regarding a man who refused to leave. On arrival, the man said he was just trying to contact his wife, who refused to talk to him. The man was trespassed from the center.
October 3: An officer contacted a man who was sleeping on a curb in the 400 block of Peace Portal Drive. The man stated he was tired and refused assistance. The man said he would use his bank card to get funds for a bus ticket to California.
October 2: A complainant reported a male subject across from the school who was video taping the school and kids. A school staff member contacted him, and the subject said he did not speak English.
October 2: A business owner found a blue/green mountain bike near his business and turned it into police. The bike will be held until claimed by owner.
October 2: An individual came into the police department to inquire about his impounded vehicle. The individual was arrested on a warrant out of King County and transported to Whatcom County jail.
October 2: A resident observed a motorist speeding and yelling at kids in the Cost Cutter parking lot. A Blaine officer investigated the reckless driving complaint and cited the driver to Blaine municipal court for DWLS/R 3rd.
October 2: Officers responded to a car prowl in the 200 block of Marine Drive and contacted a juvenile who admitted to smashing a car window. The boy was arrested and released to his father. The case will be reviewed by the juvenile prosecutor.
October 2: A vehicle was paced in the 700 block of H Street by a police vehicle going 35 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone. Officers contacted the driver and determined that his license was suspended. The driver was cited for DWLS/3rd and warned for speeding. The vehicle was impounded.
October 1: A person reported a suspicious object to police. He said it looked like a shirt wrapped with duct tape. Officers found the object, and it was just a shirt wrapped with duct tape. The shirt was disposed of.
October 1: A business in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue received a counterfeit $100 dollar bill. The bill was taken as evidence and forwarded to the U.S. Secret Service.
October 1: An employee in the 300 block of D Street called police because an individual who had been asked to leave had returned. The man left before officers arrived. The employee will call when he returns, so he can be trespassed from the business.
October 1: While on school patrol, officers saw several kids standing around one boy. Two boys had argued and one pushed the other off his bike. His side was red. Officers talked to them about fighting and contacted their parents.
October 1: A business owner in the 200 block of D Street reported that a transient was asking for money from their patrons. Officers spoke with the transient and told her she was not allowed back at the business.
October 1: Officers responded to a report of a person yelling behind a closed gas station in the 200 block of D Street and found a singing transient. The transient was advised of the complaint and given a bus token and directions to the Lighthouse Mission..
