Nurture the Spirit: Oct. 4, 7-9 at United Church of Christ, 885 4th St. In response to recent tragic events, this event is offered free and will use tools and methods that can be used to calm ourselves and regain a sense of balance. Bring a journal or notebook. Contact Mary at 332-9357.

Flea Market: October 6, Blaine Senior Center. 9 a.m. – noon. You can bring in three antiques for an informal evaluation ($10 fee). There will be a soup, sandwich and homemade pie lunch from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Salmon Summit 2001: Oct. 12, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Best Western Lakeway Inn, 714 Lakeway, Bellingham. The Nooksack Recovery Team will be working on restoring fish habitat in the Nooksack Watershed.

Counseling Program – Volunteers Training Course: Oct. 15, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Whatcom Counseling Clinic, Bellingham. The classes are held one day a week focusing on the aging process, development of listening skills, mental health issues, elder support and more. Upon completion, you will be matched with isolated elders for a once a week visit. For more info and volunteer application, call John at 676-2220.

Donation For Terrorist Attack Victims : Stop at the rest area 1/2 mile south of exit 270 on I-5 to give a donation. Kulshan Masonic Lodge of Blaine will be giving free coffee.

International Sculpture Exhibition: Until September 30 enjoy the many pieces of art throughout Peace Parch Park and Blaine.
Blaine Senior Center Activities: Come participate in Tai Chi classes, quilt & sew, aerobics, China painting, walking and other great activities. Blood pressures taken Thursdays from the fire department personnel.
Whatcom Museum Events: The museum will explore ancient cultures and the world’s rainforests as well as local history and art in September.
High Tea: Cozy Cafe, 2034 Main St., Ferndale, will be serving authentic afternoon tea from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. every Thursday. Info: 380-5926.
