Lights on!

Santa Claus will be coming to town in traditional Blaine fashion – on a fire truck.

The December 8 tree lighting ceremony will start at 6 p.m. at the foot of H Street when they throw the switch on the city’s tree. The boys and girls club and one or several school bands will lead Christmas carols. City crews have already hung lights but they’ll stay off until the official lighting.

Once the light are on the jolly old elf and wife will roll into town with police escort to visit with Blaine kids and hand out candy canes before being whisked back to the North Pole. Following the tree lighting, the police family fun night program has a cinematic Christmas treat in the middle school cafeteria, starting at 7 p.m. Think Whos.
