| Help bundle
up for winter The
Blaine Family Service Center also provides warm winter clothing for local families
and their supply is getting low. We are running through winter coats and
clothes at a pretty robust pace and donations of clean, wearable stuff are needed,
said center director Leaf Schumann. Donations can be dropped off during working
hours (8-4) to the Service Center at 785 H Street. Schumann said they are also
looking for more volunteers to shop for school supplies, especially backpacks.
We provide the money, volunteer provides the effort, he said. Call
332-7179 to sign up as a volunteer shopper. Free donated winter coats
will also be available at the Blaine Food Bank November 6 and November 9 to people
in need. The coats are part of Interfaith Coalitions annual winter coat
drive. If you or your family needs a warm coat, stop by the Blaine Food
Bank, 500 C Street, on Tuesday, November 9 and Friday, November 9 between 9 a.m.
noon. If you have coats to donate, bring them to the food bank on those
dates between 8 10 a.m. For more information, call Interfaith
Coalition at 734-3983. . Back
