| Land
trust offers nature tours
Each
month for the next six months, excluding July, Whatcom Land
Trust will sponsor a tour of property conserved by the land
trust, visiting public parks and private lands to observe
wildlife and scenic vistas. The tours will stop at the property
of local restoration experts, and take a walk along important
spawning reaches of the Nooksack River.
Whatcom
Land Trust is a local, nonprofit nature conservation organization
founded in 1984. Its mission is to help people preserve
and protect wildlife habitat, scenic, agricultural and open
space lands in Whatcom County.
Whatcom
Land Trust now protects over 5,600 acres of land in Whatcom
County through donated conservation easements, gifts of
land and collaboration with local governments and corporations.
Tours
will take place Saturday mornings. Members of Whatcom Land
Trust may attend the hikes and tours for free and receive
priority when registering. The general public is encouraged
to attend the hikes as well, with a $5 donation per person
