March
19: An anonymous citizen reported two juvenile males
throwing objects from an overpass onto I-5. Officers contacted
the juveniles and learned that one of them had vomited over
the side of the overpass. No crime.
March 19: An investigator from the State Attorney
Generals Office requested the assistance of the Blaine
police in checking on a business which gave a Blaine address.
The request information was provided.
March 18: A U.S. Customs inspector intercepted a
suspect who was violating a domestic violence protection
order from California superior court. A Blaine officer confirmed
the order and investigated the incident. The suspect was
booked into jail.
March 18: A man trying to enter Canada was arrested
by Canadian authorities for DUI and returned to the U.S.
His vehicle was impounded and he had no way to get home.
Officers contacted his brother who bought him a bus ticket.
March 18: A resident in the 600 block of A Street
called to report an adult stalking their childs friend.
Officers talked with her and told her to call police if
he followed her again. Officers warned the man to stay away.
March 17: A report of two girls panhandling at a
business in the 200 block of D Street. The girls were denied
entry into Canada and were asking for money to assist them
in getting home. Help was offered, but they chose to hitchhike
instead.
March 17: An officer transported two abandoned females
to the Lighthouse Mission in Bellingham.
March 17: A citizen reported a man locked inside
a semitrailer. Officers freed the man from the container
and trespassed him from the business. The man did not need
medical care, and he left the scene.
March 17: A U.S. Customs inspector at the Peace Arch
crossing found a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in
a travelers purse. A Blaine officer investigated the
incident and cited the owner to Blaine Municipal Court.
March 16: An officer observed a male walking with
two cases of beer in the 500 block of Peace Portal Drive
who appeared to be underage. The officer contacted the male
who was now in a car, determined he was underage, and also
arrested the two occupants in the car.
March 16: Officers contacted a driver who ran off
the road and flattened two tires on a railway tie on Bell
Road and Peace Portal Drive. The driver was not injured
and the tracks had minor scratches. BNSF Railway inspected
the tracks and continued rail traffic.
March 16: While on patrol an officer noticed an individual
in violation of a court order in the 800 block of Mitchell
Street. When officers arrived to arrest the individual it
was discovered that another individual was also in violation
of a court order. Both parties were booked into jail.
March 16: An officer stopped a speeding motorist
in the 600 block of D Street for going 60 m.p.h. in a 25
m.p.h. zone. The motorist was travelling at such a high
rate of speed that he was unable to stop at the stop sign
at SR 543 and D Street. The driver was cited.
March 16: Officers were asked to check the welfare
of a subject in a business in the 1500 block of H Street
who had been inside the mens restroom a long period
of time. The subject was found to have been drinking. He
was asked to leave and did.
March 15: A citizen in the 600 block of B Street
reported having a verbal dispute with his wife. The citizen
requested officers check on his childs welfare. Officers
contacted his wife and determined that no crimes had occurred.
Everyone was OK.
March 15: Officers responded to a chimney fire in
the 2400 block of Bell Road. The resident was using a garden
hose to control the flames. The fire was dampened out. Officers
were cleared when the fire department arrived.
March 14: A business in the 200 block of Sigurdson
reported a male had stolen numerous fish trays from the
parking lot of the business. Descriptions of vehicle and
male provided. Police recovered the trays in Bellingham
at a recycler. The suspect was not located.
March 14: An officer located a motor vehicle collision
in the 1300 block of Boblett Street involving two vehicles.
The collision was non reportable. An officer had both drivers
exchange information. The officer determined driver two
was responsible for the collision.
March 14: A citizen in the 1000 block of H Street
reported being assaulted. An officer took statements from
the victim and the suspect. Statements will be taken from
witnesses, and the case will be forwarded to juvenile court
for review.
March 14: An officer was contacted by a male juvenile
in the 200 block of 9th Street who said he was being abused
at home. The officer investigated and, after talking to
the mother and going to the house, found that the boy did
not want to follow house rules.
March 14: Blaine police were asked to assist the
FBI with an investigation into a fraudulent cross-border
telemarketing scam.
March 14: A citizen in the 1600 block of Peace Portal
Drive reported that person(s) unknown had entered his unlocked
vehicle and attempted to steal his car stereo. There was
no damage to the car and the stereo was not stolen. No suspects
or witnesses.
March 13: A utility worker went to a residence in
the 5400 block of Canvasback Road to turn off service for
failure to pay a bill. The resident became threatening so
the worker left the property and called the police. Officers
stood by while the service was disconnected without incident.
March 13: An officer responded to a report of a vehicle
fire in the 800 block of Grant Street. Firefighters were
unable to determine the cause as the car was a total loss.
The vehicle owner had reported for work and parked the car
outside and stated no previous problems with the car.
March 13: Officers discovered that a subject was
driving an unregistered vehicle on the highway by placing
license plates from another vehicle onto the unregistered
vehicle.
March 13: While enroute to training a patrol car
was struck by a large object. No damage was found on the
vehicle. A report was filed in case any damage is found
at a later date.
March 13: An individual reported three high school
track team mats worth $400 were stolen from the track field.
The case is under investigation.
