Torture,
escape, laughs
Blaine
middle school drama students will present Tim Kelleys
Help! Im Trapped in High School, this
weekend, treating audiences to a rollicking ride through
the high school from hell.
The
comedy follows three pampered teens who find themselves
transferred to Public School Maximum Security, headed by
an egomaniac principal who runs the school like a penitentiary:
no visitors, a strict dress code and nobody leaves. He is
joined by an oddball cast of school staff members, ranging
from a dietician who serves nothing but spaghetti loaf and
licorice Jello to a counselor victimized by flying insects.
Of course, they have to break out, and how they do it will
have the audience howling.
Over
40 middle school students are involved in the production,
which is directed by Victoria Mallahan and Nancy Reilly.
Heather Jones and Tom Burton have assisted with the production.
Shows
are March 23 and 24 at the Performing Arts Center, and start
at 7 p.m. There is no charge for admission but donations
will be accepted at the door.
