aviators killed in crash A plane flying from Point
Roberts to Everett last Sunday crashed into a field
near Point Whitehorn, killing both men in the small
two-seater, Jerry Mike Warren of Silverdale,
Washington and Alexander Zuyev of Hollandale, Florida. |

Bay committee moves toward land use plan Consultant
Mart Kask projects that by 2020, Birch Bays population
will more than double, increasing to at least 11,000
residents. But because many residents will be retired,
the area will employ less than 3,000 people. |
| Boardwalk
design going public With the initial design for
a boardwalk in downtown Blaine almost finished, the
city is selecting a structural engineer to take the
project from concept to concrete. |

fundraising blasts off All of a sudden people
are getting on the bandwagon. We will have our fireworks,
said chamber of commerce president Pam Christianson
after a successful garage sale pushed the fireworks
fund $2,500 closer to its goal. |

keeping a lid on local crab Folks who are used to
crabbing all year-round might be a little surprised
they wont be able to drop their traps until mid-August
this year. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
(WDFW) has closed all crab harvesting while the Dungeness
molt. |

series swells the PAC The Pacific Arts Association
(PAA) is bringing a world of art to Blaine this year. |
