| Plenty
of fun lined up for Kids Kamp
Semiahmoo
Kids Kamp is offering local kids a week or a summers
worth of fun and learning.
Open to children aged 5 to 12, the program concentrates
on fitness and sportsmanship, every week focusing on either
golf, swimming or tennis. The camp takes advantage of Resort
Semiahmoo facilities and expert instruction from resort
professional athletes and teachers to give kids an opportunity
to improve their skills and build strong minds and bodies.
With more room in newly expanded facilities, the camp also
offers art lessons this year, on Fridays during golf weeks
and every day during swim weeks. Local artist Joanne Robinson,
an alumnus of the Chicago Art Institute, will teach the
classes, which will culminate in an art festival at the
end of the summer.
Weve got some great instructors with a lot of
experience that are with the kids all day long, said
camp owner Liz Fisher. Our camp counselors help with
crafts and other activities in the morning, and games and
reading time in the afternoon. Were doing a summer
reading program. The camp has expanded into the building
across from the Semiahmoo Maritime Museum this year to provide
more room for a variety of activities.
Unless you drive by the kids camp you dont know
about these things, said camp owner Liz Fisher. It
really is a great time.
The camp is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and
tuition is $110 per week per child. For more information
