Speeders beware!

Blaine police are stepping up enforcement along Drayton Harbor Road after a speeding Jeep Cherokee flipped over into a ditch Friday night.

At 11:30 police responded to a call in the 5400 block of Drayton Harbor Road and found the 1989 vehicle on its roof. Driver Lynda Mussbacher, 39, of Port Coquitlam B.C. lost control of her vehicle on the icy road. The three passengers of the vehicle and two dogs were uninjured. Mussbacher was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

“It’s always been a concern,” said Blaine police chief Bill Elfo. “We get lots of calls from residents about speeders. We’re concerned that it’s only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs; Drayton Harbor Road is a large open road that invites people to drive fast, yet there are lots of pedestrians, bikes, blind driveways and other factors that make speed very unsafe.”
