Bright lights, big hearted city

Spooner Creek Nursery is gearing up early to make the 2001 Points of Light Christmas charity drive the most successful yet. Through the event, local businesses and individuals choose a charity to sponsor and decorate trees to represent them.

The trees are displayed at the nursery during the Christmas bazaar and visitors vote for their favorite trees by donating money to the sponsored charity. “I would like to see 100 percent of Blaine and Birch Bay businesses participate in Points of Light,” nursery owner Carrillee Fischer said.

Fischer said she is asking participants to commit to the event by February 14 to allow for ample planning time. For more information contact her at 371-5551.
