Amtrak
to stop in White Rock
Stop
that train! State senator Georgia Gardner, D-Blaine, wants
Amtrak and the city of Blaine to reconsider the citys
support of Amtraks decision to have a stop at White
Rock instead of Blaine.
While
city manager Gary Tomsic supports the stop in White Rock
because of the cost of building a station and parking, Gardner
said she wants a stop in Blaine because it would help boost
the economy.
She
also said she was disappointed city officials never contacted
her before throwing their support behind White Rock.
A scheduled
meeting between White Rock officials and Amtrak to finalize
the stop, scheduled for April 4, was postponed while White
Rock and Amtrak work out details of the agreement.
