BHS grad honored for challenging rescue effort

Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) Captain Guy Smith received a medal of commendation for his leadership in a challenging rescue of two individuals trapped in a car that had fallen off of an embankment in Auburn, according to the Auburn Reporter.

Firefighters Stewart Alway, Jordan Gustafson, Erik Peterson and Aaron Walker were awarded meritorious unit citations for their participation in the rescue, which took place in April.

Smith graduated from Blaine High School in 1997 with honors, said his father Jim Smith.
