Hundreds gathered in Peace Arch State Park on the morning of September 11 for a memorial service for the first responders lost in the World Trade Center attacks of 2001.

First responders from either side of the border, including police, fire, paramedics, border patrol and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, came out to show their support. Five first responders from New York City who were on the scene that day were escorted to Blaine from Anacortes by a fleet of motorcycles and rescue vehicles.
