Arlene J. Washburn, age 83, passed away on Friday, January 9. She was born on April 19, 1931 in Everson, WA to Walter and Evelyn Krenz.
Arlene and her husband Jack built their home and business in Birch Bay and lived there for over sixty years. Arlene attended Ferndale area schools. She was a wife, homemaker, and proud bookkeeper of Washburn Sand and Gravel Excavating. She loved her family and their many Sunday and holiday dinners together. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening, canning and camping.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, three brothers, four sisters, and the love of her life, Jack, in 2011. She is survived by her children, Carol Payne (Gary), Diane Peterson (Gary), Dean Washburn (Joyce), Jackie Nolte (John); grandchildren, Brian Siverson, Bobbie Jo Hall, Joshua Peterson, Ben Washburn; great-grandchildren, Hannah Fleming, Logan Hall, Austin Peterson, Emma Peterson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlene’s family would like to thank the staff at Stafholt Good Samaritan Society and Whatcom Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
