Water’s Edge sponsors Giving Tree charity

Birch Bay’s Water’s Edge Church is sponsoring a Giving Tree program this holiday season.

With help from businesses throughout Birch Bay, Pastor Jim Carberry and his staff are helping to see that needy children experience a festive holiday.

To contribute, donors must visit one of three Birch Bay Giving Tree locations: Bay Café, Vonna’s Purple Fin or the parks and recreation office at Bay Horizon Park. Donors will select a tag from a Christmas tree, which will have the name, age and requested gift for a child in the area.

The gifts need to be returned to the pick-up location unwrapped along with the child’s tag by Sunday, December 14. Water’s Edge volunteers will wrap them in special paper decorated by the children of the church.

The gifts will be handed out at a special church service on Sunday, December 21. The event is open to the community.

To sign a child up for the giving tree program, parents can pick up applications at Bay Café or Vonna’s Purple Fin. Applications are also available on the church’s website, watersedgewa.com. Applications are due Thursday, December 11.

Water’s Edge Church will also be hosting a special candlelit service at 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
