November 20, 12:12 p.m.: A hit and run collision occurred on H Street east of the truck route. The couple in the victim car followed the truck, which failed to stop after the collision. They called police for assistance and U.S. Border Patrol agents helped Blaine police officers locate and stop the cars a few miles from the scene. The driver who left the scene claimed he had no idea he had struck the other vehicle, although it had significant damage. It appeared the elderly motorist was having a very hard time seeing and his judgment was impaired. He was taken into custody, evaluated by medics and transported to hospital.
November 20, 1:22 p.m.: A resident came to the police department to report that her vehicle had been prowled while parked in the 500 block of 8th Street. A navy blue jacket with white stripes was stolen from the car.
November 21, 10:46 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a Blaine business for a shoplifting report. He arrived to learn that the store’s employees had contacted a woman as she tried to leave the property with about $7 in snacks. The 27-year-old Bellingham resident was arrested, cited and released with a mandatory court date citation.
November 21, 11:03 a.m.: While investigating a theft complaint, officers contacted and interviewed the suspect’s companion. They found that the man was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. The 27-year-old Bellingham resident was arrested and booked into jail.
November 21, 4:15 p.m.: The owner of a commercial building with multiple tenants asked for police for assistance monitoring the security of their facility for a special circumstance. Officers were advised of the matter for their patrols.
November 21, 5:30 p.m.: A domestic violence advocate called police to report a possible order violation that had occurred between one of her clients and a relative. An officer investigated. All information was submitted to the Blaine City Prosecutor’s office for review.
November 22, 2:32 a.m.: A Blaine police officer found and assisted a disabled motorist at the intersection of SR543 and H Street. The driver of a tandem trailer full of jet fuel suddenly lost power at the stoplight. The truck was not able to take off again, but fortunately it was late in the evening and traffic was not too heavy. The officer remained on scene for traffic control until a commercial tow arrived.
November 22, 11:15 a.m.: Police were dispatched to a disturbance occurring near a service station. An officer arrived to find that a domestic violence incident had occurred. The suspect had smashed the window out of a parked vehicle, and then fled the scene on his bicycle. Police and border patrol agents located the man at a residence a couple of miles from the scene and arrested him. He was processed at the Blaine Police Department and booked in to jail.
November 23, 2:52 p.m.: An officer served as a first responder to a call from a home on Bald Eagle Drive asking for emergency assistance. The resident there reported smelling the odor of natural gas in his house. The officer turned off the gas to the man’s furnace and remained to protect the scene until relieved by North Whatcom Fire and Rescue.
