Federal agents seized nearly 25 kilograms of illegal narcotics from a storage unit at the Grandview Business Park in Ferndale.
On September 10, agents from Homeland Security and the Northwest Regional Gang and Drug Task Force entered an unoccupied unit at the Grandview Business Park at 7056 Portal Way.
Inside, they found 15 kilograms, or roughly 33 pounds, of cocaine, and 9 kilograms, or nearly 20 pounds, of methamphetamines.
The approximate street value of the drugs is estimated to be around $500,000. Agents believe the drugs were being shipped into Canada, where their street value would have been more than $1 million.
Each kilogram bag of cocaine was stamped with the word “VITO.” It is common for drug trafficking organizations to stamp their bags as a sort of brand name for their product.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken over the investigation. As of yet, no arrests have been made but police are looking into unnamed persons of interest.
No other information has been made available, since the investigation is ongoing. Any tips or information that may lead to an arrest should be given to ICE at 866/347-2423.
